a review of Dolores Claiborne

Even though I love King, I didn't think I'd like this book. The name just sounds too "Aunt May" to me. As a matter of fact, in the load of books I bought at the second-hand store, I left this one for last.
King does a great job here. There are many sub-plots with a depth that is brimming - I asked myself "hmmmm...will this be the start of another short story down the road?" many times.
But of course we are all familiar with King tying together people places and things of stories, (like Mr. Koontz has a way of doing as well - I love this aspect of both their writings), however without giving too much away, i will say that this is not the neighborhoods we are use to being tied together in King's works.
This ties together many other little short stories that I had read as well.
Although King puts you in the mind of the main character most of the time, there are still surprises we find with this character - things we though we knew about them, but later find a certain play on words, or an alternate meaning, etc...Very nice indeed.
Ma, I'm stuck in a well ;)
